The Pre-Raphaelites in Oxford: Ashmolean Museum - Paintings and Sculpture

Most of the paintings we look at here are from the Combe Bequest. John Everett Millais first came to Oxford in 1846 to visit his half-brother, and met James Wyatt, a picture dealer who had a shop in the High Street. Wyatt commissioned paintings from Millais, and in 1850 he introduced him to Thomas Combe and his wife Martha, who had no children of their own, and virtually adopted him and his young friends, starting with Charles Alston Collins (1828-1873). They stayed at his house -- Millais even spent Christmas with them in 1850, which surprised his own family. In 1851 Holman Hunt spent Christmas there, and in turn became a kind of adopted son. The Combes bought important religious paintings, including Hunt's Light of the World which can be seen in the chapel of Keble College. Combe was known as "the Early Christian" and was a good friend of John Henry Newman. The Slim Shady EP is a debut EP by American rapper Eminem, released on the Detroit-based record label Web Entertainment in 1998. The Slim Shady EP was released on cassette, vinyl, and CD (The vinyl and CD versions were all released at the same time as the cassette.) Unlike Infinite, The Slim Shady EP helped Eminem garner significant underground attention and eventually garnered the interest of famous West Coast hip-hop producer Dr. Dre, who subsequently signed Eminem to his Aftermath label, and executive-produced his breakthrough major-label debut The Slim Shady LP. Eminem sold roughly 250 copies of this EP independently, according to an interview with Zane Lowe. It would not be until Eminem rose to global fame that the album would chart, eventually charting at #27 on the UK Albums Chart in 2001, nearly four years after the album was first released.[4] Eminem desperately tried to contact big producers such as Dr. Dre, (who would later sign Eminem) to do production work on th! e album but with no luck. Electric Litany live στο "Gagarin 205" την Πέμπτη 15 Μαρτίου 2012. Oι Electric Litany, έχουν ήδη χτίσει μια ιδιαίτερη σχέση με το Ελληνικό κοινό. Με την κυκλοφορία του πρώτου άλμπουμ τους "How to be a child and win the war" κατάφεραν πολύ περισσότερα από μια επιτυχημένη εμπορικά κυκλοφορία. Κατάφεραν να αφήσουν το προσωπικό τους στίγμα στη μουσική μας συνείδηση, ακροβατώντας ανάμεσα στη μελωδικότητα των θεμάτων και την ωμότητα του ήχου, σαν το απόλυτο soundtrack στο όνειρο ενός κόσμου όπου η πραγματικότητα, η ζωή, και ο έρωτας μας ανήκουν. Μετά από δισκογραφική σιωπή 2 ετών, και περίπÎ! ¿Ï… 8 μήνες μετά την τελευταία τους εμφάνιση στα μέρη μας με τους Interpol, οι Electric Litany επιστρέφουν στην Î'θήνα, και στη σκηνή του "Gagarin 205", την Πέμπτη 15 Μαρτίου για να μας δώσουν μια πρώτη γεύση από την επερχόμενη δεύτερη δισκογραφική τους δουλειά τους.
